ABOUT IMAGES OF DELIGHT

Images of Delight was established in the Spring of 2003 by Linda Owen-Lloyd together with Art Consultant Louise Power. Before moving to Bristol, Linda had worked for many years in the marketing department for the children’s book publishers, Walker Books, and it was there that her love and interest in children’s book illustration was formed. Louise also worked for Walker Books and still acts as an Art Consultant for them as well as being in demand to give talks about children’s book illustration at art colleges, literary events and elsewhere around the country.

Their aim is to exhibit (these days mainly from the online gallery) and sell the best in contemporary children’s book illustration. Most of the illustrations are the published originals from the books, but some are preliminary drawings, unused finished pictures, prints from wood or vinyl engravings and greeting card illustrations. All the work is signed by the artist.

They have now put on several exhibitions around the country featuring work by some of the greats in children’s book illustration; Anthony Browne (King Kong), Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo), Jill Murphy (The Worst Witch), Helen Craig (Angelina Ballerina), Jill Barton (The Pig in the Pond), Colin McNaughton (Suddenly (A Preston Pig Story)), Penny Dale (Ten Out of Bed), Simon James (Days Like This), John Lawrence (This Little Chick), Nick Sharratt (Jacqueline Wilson and Jeremy Strong books), as well as many other well known and award winning illustrators. They have generated a great deal of interest from the public as well as from the press.

There will be several exhibitions a year at different venues around the country, but work can also be bought via this website or by private appointment.
